Geranium has quickly become one of my favorite essential oils. It works profoundly on the emotions and is useful in many medical conditions. Smells wonderful almost like roses. In fact geranium has been called the poor mans rose. The oil is not extracted from the brightly colored plant which we so often see. It is from the Pelargonium graveolens variety. This variety is commonly displayed in Greek restaurants.
Geranium is believed to treat the following
chiliblains, endometriosis, menopausal problems, diabetes, blood disorders, throat infections, and as a nerve tonic. Works well as a sedative. It is reputed to help in cases of uterine and breast cancer. Also has been used to treat frostbite and infertility. It is a natural antiseptic and astringent.
Since geranium oil restores balance between oily and dry skin and scalp, it is good for all skin type and great in hair care products. Geranium aids in balancing emotions and hormones, and helps relieve stress, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and mood swings.
Caution: Geranium essential oil aromatherapy should not be used in early pregnancy.
