This stunning blue powder is a natural colorant that's extracted from the leaves and stems of the Indigofera tinctorial. Traditionally used in China as a medical remedy, today is more commonly used as a natural dye. The shrub measures of 3 to 6 feet. It has dark green leaves and pinkish violet flowers. It is known as Indigo in English, Neeli chetu in Telugu, Neelam in Tamil, and Neel in Hindi. This shrub is of two varieties namely small and long, both of which are used.
